Last beach day of the year!
Since today appeared to be the last 80 degree day for a while we decided to ditch our plans and head to the beach this morning! It was so beautiful, peaceful and fun! We had a great time!
We usually don't bring much home with us, but this time K really wanted to bring some periwinkles home. She has been enamored by them since we went to a night tidal pool class two years ago. I figured just a few periwinkles wouldn't hurt!

NOT Back to School Planning
I was in a big buy store today picking up pet food and
some other things and I was so disturbed by the parents shouting at children,
juggling school supplies and seeing the children agonizing over the choices that
the parents were presenting to them, that it seriously turned my stomach into
knots. Each year with all the craziness going on as mainstream schools are starting back
up I appreciate more and MORE that we are
NOT going back to school!In fact we are planning an incredible NOT Back to School Beach Day for area home learning families to meet up with us to celebrate the day that our local school will be back in session! This is the first beach day we have done for this, but in the past we have celebrated with things like a Park Day, Bowling Party, and Family Hikes. This is a great way to get new home ed families together with veterans and to meet back up with friends who may have been busy over the summer! If you don't have a large home ed community around you, you can also have your own "Not Back to School Day" by enjoying things that you have been avoiding all summer, here are some posts of how we have celebrated in the past.

Back from camping
and boy do I need some sleep!!!
They set up their tents...
the lake and most swam back again -
had a glow parade -
and then went for a swim...
all the way across -
made their own breakfasts -
had a glow parade -
and made lots of memories!!!
2 parents + 7 teenaged girls = epic adventure!

Drumming Circle
Since the twins have come along I have been trying to help out by taking the Littles to programs at our local library - one of their favorite places to visit. Today they had a Drumming Circle that featured different types of drumming from around the world. Otha Day was the incredible drummer that presented this program and he was fabulous with the kids.

Back from Vaca - but no time to do anything!!!
It always seems like when I get back from vacation, I have soooo much to catch up on! I am sure for those that check back here often, this is not the first time that you have read this!
I have little time to post, but wanted to get some pics up at least! We all had a great time and the kids want to go back next month...we will have to see about that one...

Not quite quiet time!
Although we have been taking a break from "lessons" things have remained busy around here. Lots of projects, visits, birthdays and more! Here are some highlights -

SC had her 3RD Birthday!!!
A trip with OR to the children's museum...
